Samford and UAB Announce Men's Basketball Series

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford and UAB men's basketball programs have announced a three-game series that will stretch from the 2026-27 season to the 2028-29 season. The Blazers will host the Bulldogs in the first and third years of the agreement, while UAB will head to the Pete Hanna Center in the 2027-28 season.

The three-game set will add to the short history between the two Birmingham basketball programs. The two sides have faced each other four times in program history, the last during the 2009-10 season. They met for the first time in 1980-81 as the Blazers hold a 4-0 series lead against the Bulldogs.

Both programs are coming off a stretch of sustained success, as the Bulldogs are coming off four straight 20-win seasons and a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2023-24. The Blazers have reached the 20-win mark in five straight seasons under head coach Andy Kennedy, including two trips to the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs are back in action this Friday for their home opener as they host South Carolina State at the Pete Hanna Center at 7:30 p.m.
