BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford softball team returns to play this weekend as they compete at the UAB Tournament for a four-game set. The Bulldogs are set to face Belmont and Southern Indiana on Friday, followed by Purdue on Sunday and UAB on Monday. The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 6-3 record on the season.

After a 4-0 weekend at their home tournament last weekend, Samford saw their five-game winning streak snapped as they fell at No. 17 Mississippi State 6-1 on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs start their weekend by facing Belmont on Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. The Bruins and the Dogs have met nine times in series history with Belmont holding a 6-3 series lead. Belmont is 5-5 on their season and has won the last five games of the series against the Bulldogs. The Dogs play their second game of the day in the afternoon against Southern Indiana at 4:30 p.m. Samford and the Eagles have split their two-ever meetings while Southern Indiana is 1-4 for far this season.

Samford is off Saturday before returning to face a 6-5 record Purdue team on Sunday at 9 a.m. before facing UAB on Monday night. It will be the third time the Bulldogs and Blazers have met on the season, with Samford winning the first two games 6-5 and 16-7. 

The Bulldogs have had one of the top offenses in the Southern Conference so far this season as they are second in runs scored per game at 6.4 runs per game. Katie Campbell has led the way in most offensive categories, hitting .464 and carrying a 1.377 OPS. The Bulldogs have four players eligible players hitting over .350, Campbell, McKayla Cothran, Grier Bruce, and Linsey Hargis. 

Jordyn Partain has solidified herself as the team's ace as she carries a 3-2 record and has thrown nearly half the team's innings with 25 in her six appearances.
