GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT FURMAN (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Greenville, S.C., to take on the Furman Paladins Saturday evening at 6 p.m. (CT) at Hayes Gymnasium.
Samford and Furman have met 37 previous times, with Samford holding a 22-15 series lead. The teams met earlier this season at Samford, with the Bulldogs winning, 77-62.
The Samford women's basketball team is currently 11-16 overall and 6-5 in Southern Conference play after a 62-54 win at Wofford Thursday evening.
Samford redshirt junior
Emily Bowman is currently averaging 11.0 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard
Kennedy Langham has had 19 double-digit scoring games so far this season, and is leading the team, averaging 11.6 points per game.
Samford freshman
Claire Johnson is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game. She scored a career-high 30 points at UNC Greensboro. Over the last six games, she has averaged 18.8 points per game.
Graduate forward
Annie Ramil is currently averaging 6.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Sadie Stetson is currently averaging 7.1 points per game so far this season. She currently ranks second in the Southern Conference in three-pointers made per game, averaging 2.0 per contest.
Aubrey Blankenship and
Alonya Waldon have stepped into the starting lineup recently. Waldon is averaging 6.4 points and Blankenship is averaging 4.9 points per contest.
The Furman Paladins enter Saturday's game with a record of 14-13 overall and 4-7 in Southern Conference play. Furman is coming off a 72-70 win over Mercer Thursday evening.
Furman has been led so far this season by Tate Walters, averaging 12.8 points per game. Niveya Henley is currently scoring 11.7 points per contest. Kate Johnson is averaging 11.0 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game. Sydney Ryan is averaging 10.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.
