BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's and women's track and field team competes again beginning tomorrow at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships. The Bulldogs look to continue their historic run, as they try to capture their tenth straight women's title and their sixth straight men's championship.
The championship is set to begin tomorrow and is hosted by VMI at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Va. Head coach
Rod Tiffin looks to capture his sixth-straight SoCon Coach of the Year award, correlating with the streak team championships the Bulldogs have captured.
So far this season, standouts have included
Bradley Franklin who is the favorite in the men's hurdles. The freshman has been named SoCon Athlete of the Week twice and has a school-record time of 7.65 seconds in the 60m hurdles.
Ellison Chadwick and
Ian Jones expect to show strongly in the long jump and triple jump for the Dogs while the trio of
Arthur Chitty,
Jaggerd Moore, and
Dorsey Parker are set to be conference contenders in the high jump.Â
Adeline Haisch has multiple wins in the women's mile this season so far while
Carter Ellis and
Brenden Vanderpool are expected to have a say in the men's pole vault.Â
Antonina Tereshchenko earned SoCon weekly honors early in the season in the women's pole vault whileÂ
Zephaniah Carico-McLennan is the favorite in the men's 800-meter event.Â
The championship begins tomorrow morning with the men's heptathlon and the women's pentathlon. The full schedule of events can be seen
