BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford softball is set for a stretch of games this weekend at the Ole Miss Tournament. The Bulldogs are slated for two games against North Dakota State, and Iowa State, and one against the hosting Rebels. Samford enters the tournament which begins Thursday night with a 16-10 record.

The Bulldogs are coming off a midweek matchup at Jacksonville State where they fell 5-2. Freshman Olivia Treece was hit with her first loss of the season as she moves her record to 3-1 on the season. The Bulldogs outhit the Gamecocks 8-6 in the game but the Bulldogs staff allowed too many free base runners, the Dogs committed two error in the field, and they were unable to come through with a couple of big hits with runners aboard.

Samford is scheduled to face NDSU on Thursday night and Friday morning. The two sides have met twice, both times in Oxford in 2021 and 2023 which have gone the way of the Bison. NDSU enters the game with a 12-13 record on the season. The Dogs will move on to face Iowa State twice on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The Bulldogs defeated the Cyclones in their two sides only meeting in 2017. ISU enters the tournament with a 10-11 record on the season. Samford completes their weekend with a game against Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon. The Rebels are ranked No. 21 in the country and carry a 21-4 record.

Offensively, the Dogs have been led by Olivia Shaw who continues to swing a hot bat. She leads the team in practically every offensive category and provided the two runs on a double in their last games against the Gamecocks. The Bulldog's pitching has been a little up-and-down with the trio of Jordyn Partain, Sara Bond, and Olivia Treece having shown dominant outings but also had starts where they have struggled. Partain was strong against JSU as she threw three innings and allowed just two baserunners.
