GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT MISSISSIPPI STATE (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will travel to Starkville, Miss., to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs Tuesday evening at Dudy-Noble Field. The game is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch can be seen live online on SEC Network+.
Samford and Mississippi State have met 51 previous times, with MSU holding a 40-11 series lead. Last season, the teams played at Joe Lee Griffin Field, with MSU winning, 9-5 win in 10 innings. Samford's last win in the series came in an 8-6 win in 2022 at the Hoover Met.
Samford enters the week with a record of 13-11 overall and 1-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs dropped two-of-three games at ETSU over the weekend.
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher
Brooks Rice in Tuesday night's game. Rice has a record of 0-1 and an ERA of 10.03. Mississippi State has listed right-handed pitcher Noah Sullivan as its starter. Sullivan has thrown just 6.0 innings so far this season and has not allowed a run.
Cade Carr is currently leading Samford in hitting with a .395 (32-for-81) average with eight doubles, four home runs and a team-high 34 RBI. His batting average is second in the SoCon and his doubles rank third in the league.
Jeffrey Ince is hitting .353 (30-for-85) with five doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI.
Parker McDonald is hitting .338 (23-of-68) with four doubles, four home runs and 16 RBI.
Jake Souders is hitting .316 (25-of-79) and he ranks fourth in the SoCon with nine doubles.
Mississippi State enters the week with a record of 15-9 overall and 1-5 in SEC play. The Bulldogs dropped two-of-three games at Oklahoma over the weekend.
Mississippi State has been led at the plate so far this season by Noah Sullivan, hitting .410 (32-for-78) with eight doubles, four home runs and 22 RBI. Ace Reese leads the team in home runs with eight and in RBI with 34.
