OWENS CROSSROADS, Ala. – Samford sophomore Gabi Nicastro earned her fourth tournament win of the season, earning individual medalist honors, and the Bulldogs placed third as a team at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, held Monday and Tuesday at the Hampton Cove Highlands Course (Par 72, 6,039 yards).
 
"As always we enjoy having our tournament at Hampton Cove," Samford head coach Joe Davidson said. "I'm proud of the way the team played, but we have a lot of work to do. Congratulations to Gabi on her fourth win of the season. I'm excited to see what this team can do the rest of the season."
 
Samford finished with a three-round total of 922 (299-302-321) to finish third in the 12-team event. Troy won the tournament with a final score of 907 (298-290-319), while North Alabama placed second at 913 (295-301-317).
 
Nicastro shot a three-round score of four over par 220 (73-70-77). Behind Nicastro, Anika Richards (75-74-82) and Grace Engel (74-77-80) both tied for 12^th in the 63-player field with identical scores of 231. Christian Williams (77-83-82) and Ella Stoll (79-81-82) both tied for 25^th with scores of 242.
 
Samford had four individuals take part in the tournament, with their scores not counting towards the team total. Morgan Franklin tied for 23^rd at 237 (76-81-80), while Kate Joyner tied for 37^th at 243 (76-87-80). Haley Lockhart tied for 61^st with a score of 271 (97-86-88), while Anne Reaves Skinner placed 63^rd at 277 (102-90-85).
 
Next up, Samford will compete in the Chris Banister Golf Classic, hosted by Jacksonville State University, March 9-11, in Gadsden, Ala.
