Bulldogs Place Sixth At ULM Invitational

MONROE, La. – The Samford women's golf team placed sixth at the ULM Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Bayou Desiard Country Club.
"This was a good tune up for the Southern Conference Championship coming up in a few weeks," Samford head coach Joe Davidson said. "We had our best day on the final day of the tournament, which shows progress. I look forward to getting to work and preparing for the SoCon Championship."
As a team, Samford finished with a three-round score of 23-over-par 887 (302-293-292) to place sixth in the 10-team event. Southern Mississippi won the tournament with a total score of 859 (281-284-294).
Samford's playing five was led by Anika Richards, who tied for sixth in the 57-player field with a three-round score of one-under-par 215 (73-72-70). Gabi Nicastro tied for 13th with a score of 218 (77-69-72). Grace Engel tied for 25th at 223 (73-74-76).
Christian Williams finished 42nd in the tournament with a final score of 232 (79-78-75). Morgan Franklin tied for 43rd at 233 (79-79-75).
Playing as individuals, with their scores not counting towards the team total were Kate Joyner, tying for 43rd at 232 (76-79-78) and Ella Stoll, tying for 49th at 237 (79-77-81).
Next up, Samford will compete in the Southern Conference Championship, April 14-16 in Columbia, S.C.
