GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. WCU (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will play host to Western Carolina in a three-game SoCon series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Samford and Western Carolina have met 55 previous times, with Samford holding a 32-23 series lead. Last season, the teams met in Cullowhee, N.C., with Samford winning two-of-three games.
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 22-18 overall and 8-4 in SoCon play. Last weekend, Samford won two-of-three games at VMI. Samford hosted 18th-ranked Alabama Tuesday night, falling, 11-7.

Cameron Keshock on Saturday. No starter has been named for Sunday yet.
Cade Carr is currently leading Samford in hitting with a .354 (52-for-147) average with 11 doubles, seven home runs and a team-high 48 RBI. His 48 RBI rank seventh in the Southern Conference.
Jeffrey Ince is hitting .344 (52-for-151) with 13 doubles, nine home runs and 28 RBI.
Michael Gupton is hitting .331 (45-for-136) with seven doubles, eight home runs and 31 RBI.
Jackson Harris has an average of .324 (46-for-142) with 12 doubles, three home runs and 32 RBI.
Jake Souders is currently hitting .323 (53-for-164) with nine doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI. Souders leads the team with 18 multi-hit games so far this season.
Western Carolina enters the weekend with a record of 20-20 overall and 4-8 in Southern Conference play. The Catamounts won two-of-three from Wofford last weekend and then earned a 14-13 win at UNC Asheville Wednesday evening.
Western Carolina has listed left-handed pitcher Davis Wright as its starter for Friday's game and right-hander Dusty Revis as its Saturday starter. The Catamounts have not listed a starter for Sunday's game yet.
The Catamounts have been led at the plate by Hayden Friese, batting .346 (55-for-159) with nine doubles, six home runs and 35 RBI. Elijah Smith has a .331 (43-for-130) with 12 doubles, four home runs and 39 RBI.
