BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford softball team returns to play this weekend as they hit the road for their penultimate series of the season in Southern Conference at Chattanooga. The Bulldogs will face the Mocs in two games on Saturday, 12 and 2 p.m., and have a final game on Sunday at 1 p.m. Samford enters the series with a 30-18 record overall while Chattanooga sits at 33-12 while the Dogs are tied with UNCG atop the SoCon standings with an 11-4 mark, one game ahead of the Mocs.

The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend series win over Furman when they last played. They won the first two games of the set 5-1 and 6-5 before dropping the series finale. For her work in the series, Olivia Shaw was named the SoCon Player of the Week after she hit 6-for-11 with four RBIs and four runs scored. Five of her six hits were doubles as she is second in the nation with 20 on the year.

Chattanooga and Samford are meeting for the 71st time with the Mocs leading the series 46-24. Sarah Squillace is hitting .500 in conference play this season as the Bulldogs have five batters hitting over .333 in SoCon play.  Jordyn Partain and Olivia Treece each have taken their ERA below 3.50 on the year. Treece has a 7-1 record while Partain has a 13-11 record. Joi Hubbard continues to lead the conference in stolen bases with 27 while Katie Campbell and Shaw continue to lead the league in RBIs with 54 and 49 respectively.

The series this weekend will go a long way in determining the winner of the SoCon this season as Samford will look to gain ground on Chattanooga and at least keep pace with UNCG who faces Mercer. All games in the series can be seen on ESPN+ with watch and live stats links being found here.
