GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. MIAMI OF OHIO (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will play host to the Miami of Ohio Redhawks in a non-conference series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.   
 
Samford and Miami of Ohio have met three previous times, in a series in 2008, with Samford sweeping the series by scores of 6-5, 6-5 and 13-6.
 
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 23-21 overall and 9-6 in SoCon play. Last weekend, the Bulldogs dropped two-of-three games to Western Carolina. On Tuesday evening, the Bulldogs fell to 10th-ranked Auburn, 3-0 at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

Samford is scheduled to start left-handed pitcher Miller Riggins on Friday and right-hander Cameron Keshock on Saturday. No starter has been named for Sunday yet.
 
Cade Carr is currently leading Samford in hitting with a .344 (56-for-163) average with 11 doubles, seven home runs and a team-high 50 RBI. Jeffrey Ince is hitting .323 (54-for-167) with 13 doubles, nine home runs and 28 RBI. Jake Souders has a .320 (56-for-175) average with 10 doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI. Parker McDonald is hitting .313 (45-for-144) with 12 doubles, 11 home runs and 38 RBI. Michael Gupton is hitting .309 (46-for-149) with seven doubles, eight home runs and 31 RBI.
 
Miami of Ohio enters the weekend with a record of 25-19 overall and 18-6 in the MAC. The Redhawks won two-of-three games at Ohio University last weekend, and they took a 10-8 win at Xavier Wednesday evening.

The Redhawks have been led at the plate so far this season by Dillon Baker, batting .349 (59-for-169) with 17 doubles, 11 home runs and 41 RBI. Evan Applewick leads the team in home runs with 14 and in RBI with 51.
