GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT MERCER (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will travel to Macon, Ga., to take on the Mercer Bears in a key SoCon series. The teams are set to play Thursday at 5 p.m., Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
Samford and Mercer have met 115 previous times, with Samford holding a 58-57 series lead. Last season, Samford won two-of-three regular season games and the Bulldogs earned a 9-7 win in the SoCon Tournament.
Samford enters the week with a record of 27-23 overall and 12-6 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs enter the final weekend of the regular season just one game behind ETSU for first place in the league standings.
Last weekend, the Bulldogs swept three games from UNC Greensboro. Samford won the games by scores of 14-2 (7 inn.). 12-2 (7 inn.) and 12-4. Samford has won four of its last five games.

Cameron Keshock on Friday. Samford has not named a starter for Saturday's game yet.
Jeffrey Ince currently leads the team in hitting with a .339 (64-for-189) average with 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 33 RBI.
Michael Gupton is hitting .335 (57-for-170) with eight doubles, 13 home runs and 42 RBI.
Jake Souders is hitting .327 (64-for-196) with 12 doubles, eight home runs and 39 RBI.
Jackson Harris is currently hitting .315 (58-for-184) with 13 doubles, four home runs and 39 RBI.
Cade Carr has a .314 (58-for-185) average with 13 doubles, seven home runs and a team-high 54 RBI.
Parker McDonald is hitting .307 (51-for-166) with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 43 RBI.
Mercer enters the series with a record of 31-22 overall and 10-8 in Southern Conference play. The Bears sit two games behind Samford in the SoCon standings. Last weekend, the Bears dropped two games at Virginia Tech.
Mercer has named left-handed pitcher Colton Cosper as its starting pitcher for Thursday's series opener. The Bears have not named a starter for Friday or Saturday.
Mercer has been led at the plate so far this season by Bradley Frye, hitting .333 (75-for-225) with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 51 RBI. Ty Dalley leads the team in home runs with 18 and in RBI with 58.
