GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. ALABAMA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will play host to the Alabama Crimson Tide Sunday at 4 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
Samford and Alabama have met nine previous times, with Alabama holding a 5-3-1 series lead. The teams last met in 2023, with the teams playing to a 0-0 tie.
Samford enters Sunday afternoon's game with a record of 0-1-1. The Bulldogs played at Auburn last Sunday evening, with the game finishing in a 0-0 draw. Samford was supposed to host South Alabama Thursday evening, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather.
So far this season,
Sam De Luca and
Clare Nicholas have one goal each.
Isa Moreno and
Sarah Holland have an assist each for the Bulldogs. Samford goalkeeper
Peyton Hull posted her first shutout of the season in the 0-0 draw at Auburn last Sunday. She saved four shots in keeping the Tigers off the scoreboard for the complete 90 minutes of the contest.
Alabama enters the game with a record of 3-0 on the young season. The Crimson Tide has wins over Louisiana Tech (6-2), Chattanooga (1-0) and Michigan (3-1).
So far this season for Alabama, Gianna Paul has two goals and one assist for five total points. Maddie Padelski has netted two goals as well so far this season.
