JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Samford soccer team picked up its first win of the season, earning a 1-0 victory at Jacksonville State Thursday evening.
With the win, Samford improved its season record to 1-2-1 on the season. Jacksonville State fell to 1-2-2 with the loss.
Brooklyn Miller scored the game's lone goal. She netted her goal In the 79th minute of the contest to give Samford all of the offense it would need.

Mamie Carman shared the team lead in shots with two each. Goalkeeper
Peyton Hull played the full 90 minutes, earning her second shutout of the season.
For Jacksonville State, Kaia Samuelsen Elverum, Raegan Whitaker and Louise Featherstone had one shot each. Goalkeeper Ella Holmberg saved six shots, allowing the one goal.
As a team, Samford had 16 shots, to just three for JSU. The Bulldogs had eight corner kicks, to just one for the Gamecocks.
Samford will next play at Georgia State on Thursday, Sept. 4. The game is set for a 6 p.m. (CT) start from Atlanta, Ga.
