BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Johnson City, Tenn., to play the ETSU Buccaneers on Friday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. The game was previously scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip.
Samford (8-14, 1-4 SoCon) heads into the Southern Conference match up looking to halt a three-game skid. ETSU (9-11, 2-3 SoCon) enters tied for fourth and riding a two-game winning streak after victories over Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro.
Friday marks the 26th meeting between the programs, with ETSU holding a narrow 13-12 edge in the all-time series. While Samford claimed the most recent meeting, 50-43, on Feb. 13, 2025, ETSU has won four of the last five match ups overall.
The Bulldogs' identity is built from the perimeter. Samford leads the SoCon and ranks among the nation's best sitting 12th nationally in three-point attempts per game (28.3) and 23rd in threes made per game (8.8). Sophomore guard Briana Rivera has been leading the nation in three-pointers made (73), attempts (205), and threes per game (3.32).
Samford's bench contributes 23.2 points per game, second-best in the league.
ETSU is led by Anala Nelson who averages 9.4 PPG, 2.7 APG, and 2.0 SPG. This is the Bucs 4th season under Brenda Mock Brown.
