Samford Women's Basketball Travels To Furman For SoCon Rematch

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Greenville, S.C., to face Furman on Feb. 19 in a Southern Conference rematch. 

Thursday's match up marks the 40th all-time meeting between the programs. The Bulldogs are currently 11-16 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

Furman won the most recent contest on Jan. 24 in Birmingham, 70-62, and has taken three of the last five meetings.

The Bulldogs rank first in the SoCon and 15th nationally in three-point attempts per game (27.4), and first in the league and 28th nationally in made threes per game (8.6). Junior guard Briana Rivera headlines the attack, leading the nation in three-pointers made (85), three-point attempts (236), and threes per game (3.27). Samford's depth has also been a strength, with the top bench in the SoCon contributing 22.7 points per game. 

Furman enters at 15-10 overall and 7-3 in SoCon play, tied for second in the league and winners of three of its last five, including the Jan. 24 decision in Birmingham. Sophmore guard Alyssa Ervin leads the Paladins with 13.6 points per game. 

The game is set for tip off in Greenville, S.C. at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be followed via Live Stats.
