BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A pair of Samford players were ranked among the nation's best at their respective positions by D1 Baseball earlier this week.
Jeffrey Ince was ranked as the 11
th-best second baseman in the nation, while
Cade Carr was listed as the 38
th-best catcher nationally.
Last season, Ince posted a .330 batting average. He had a team-high 17 doubles, and he ranked third on the team with 10 home runs for the season. He drove in 34 runs for the Bulldogs as well.
Carr led Samford with 61 RBI last season. He hit .332 with 16 doubles and eight home runs on the season.
Samford will open the 2026 season on Friday, Feb. 13, when the Bulldogs play host to Belmont. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start from Joe Lee Griffin Field.
