BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Samford women's basketball delivered a record-setting offensive performance and a gritty finish, defeating UNC Greensboro 68-64 Saturday afternoon at the Pete Hanna Center.

Freshman Francie Morris broke out with a career-high 24 points, and Briana Rivera broke the school record for three pointers made in a season while being perfect from the free-throw line to seal the victory. The record was previously held by Emily London (2010–11) with 84, after today's game Rivera has 85 with five games left in the regular season.

Martha Bishop tied her career high for the second straight game with 12 points and added eight rebounds, giving Samford crucial depth and energy. With the win, Samford improves to 10-16 overall and 3-6 in Southern Conference play.

Samford came out with energy early to build a 25-18 lead by the end of the first quarter. UNC Greensboro's defense stiffened in the second, holding the Bulldogs to only seven points as the visitors claimed a 34-32 halftime advantage. The Bulldogs answered with a dominant third quarter, outscoring UNC Greensboro 22-16 behind efficient shooting and strong rebounding to retake a 54-50 lead.

The final quarter saw both teams trading baskets, with eight lead changes and six ties. Samford maintained its poise despite committing 22 turnovers, relying on sharp three-point shooting and exceptional work on the boards to control the tempo. Clutch free throws from Rivera, including two with 15 seconds remaining, pushed the lead to two possessions and ultimately secured the victory.

Samford's bench outscored UNC Greensboro's reserves 14-10 and Samford led for more than 27 minutes of an intense contest.

The Bulldogs will continue conference play in the Pete Hanna Center with a match up against Mercer on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.
