GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT AUBURN (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will go on the road to play at seventh-ranked Auburn Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Plainsman Park. The game can be seen live on SEC Network+.
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher
Noah Berry on the mound. Berry has a 1-0 record and a 0.00 ERA so far this season.
Samford and Auburn are meeting for the 107th time, with Auburn holding an 80-25-1 series lead. Last season, the teams played twice, with Auburn winning by scores of 15-8 and 3-0. Samford's last win in the series came on May 12, 2021, in a 6-1 victory at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Samford comes into the week with a record of 5-6. The Bulldogs won two-of-three from Bowling Green over the weekend. Samford fell in game one, 7-1, but came back to take the final two games by scores of 7-4 and 11-2.
Samford has been led at the plate so far this season by
Jake Souders, hitting .415 (17-of-41) with two home runs and six RBI.
Luke Boykin leads the team in both home runs with five and in RBI with 17.
Gus Gandy and
Eddie Marshall have two home runs each so far this season, while
Trey Higgins and
Charlie Bozeman have one each.
Tuesday's game is a part of eight games on Samford's 2026 schedule against SEC opponents. The Bulldogs hosted Alabama on Feb. 17. Samford played a three-game series at Georgia, Feb. 20-22, the Bulldogs will play at Alabama on April 7, will take on Auburn, Mar. 3 at Auburn and April 21 at the Hoover Met and host Mississippi State on April 14.
Auburn enters Tuesday night's game with a record of 9-2. The Tigers won two-of-three games from Nebraska over the weekend. Nebraska won the first game, 9-8, but Auburn took the last two games, 15-4 and 12-3.
Auburn has listed right-handed pitcher Andreas Alvarez as its starting pitcher. Alvarez had a 2.79 ERA and no record so far this season.
Auburn has been led at the plate so far this season by Brandon McCraine, batting .533 with two doubles and five RBI. Chase Fralick leads the team in home runs with three and in RBI with 12.
