SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior pitcher
Joseph Lee was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week when the league released its weekly baseball awards Monday afternoon.
Lee turned in his best performance in a Samford uniform, earning a dominant win in Friday's 11-0 victory at Western Carolina. Lee threw the complete 7.0 innings, giving up no runs on just one hit in earning the win. He struck out seven batters, while walking just two. Lee faced 23 batters, just two over the minimum for a seven-inning game.
For the season, Lee has a 1-0 record and a 3.45 ERA. He leads the team in strikeouts with 26, while allowing just nine walks.
Samford will step out of conference play to play at in-state rival Troy on Tuesday, March 24. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Troy's Riddle-Pace Field.
