GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT TROY (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will travel to Troy, Ala., to take on in-state rival Troy Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field. The game can be seen live on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available.
 
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher Noah Berry on the mound Tuesday evening. Berry enters the game with a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 3.00.
 
Samford and Troy have met 74 previous times, with Troy owning a 48-26 series lead. Last season, the teams met once, at Joe Lee Griffin Field, with Troy taking a 12-8 win. Samford's last win in the series came in the 2021 season when the Bulldogs swept two games.

Samford comes into the week with a record of 9-13 overall and 1-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs dropped two-of-three games at Western Carolina over the weekend.
 
Samford has been led at the plate so far this season by Jake Souders, hitting .425 (34-of-80) with five home runs and 17 RBI. Trey Higgins leads the team in home runs with six so far this season, while Luke Boykin leads the squad in RBI with 20. Gus Gandy is hitting .342 (26-for-76) with four doubles, two home runs and six RBI. Higgins is hitting .309 (21-for-68), while Cade Carr is hitting .303 (23-for-76) with three doubles, four home runs and 18 RBI.
 
Troy currently has a mark of 10-13 overall and 3-3 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Trojans dropped two-of-three games at Southern Miss over the weekend.
 
Troy has listed right-handed pitcher Matt Dill as its starting pitcher. Dill has a 2-0 record and an ERA of 3.09. Troy has been led at the plate so far this season by Jimmy Janicky, batting .371 (33-for-89) with seven doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI. Josh Pyne is hitting .326 (29-for-89) with nine doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI.
