GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. PRESBYTERIAN (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will play host to Presbyterian in a three-game series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Friday's game can be seen live on ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all three games.
This weekend's series marks the first time Samford and Presbyterian have ever met on the baseball diamond.
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher
Joseph Lee on Friday. Lee, who was named the SoCon Pitcher of the Week last week, has a record of 1-0 and a 3.45 ERA. Right-handed pitcher
Mason Blasche (0-5, 8.67 ERA) is set to start Saturday's game on the mound. Samford has not named a starter for Sunday's game yet.
Presbyterian has listed right-handed pitcher Tyrell Williams (0-1, 5.76 ERA), left-handed pitcher Christian Charalambous (1-3, 6.52 ERA) and right-hander Tristan McGregor (1-3, 7.20 ERA) as its starting pitchers for the weekend.
Samford comes into the weekend with a record of 10-13 overall and 1-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs earned an impressive 7-2 win at in-state rival Troy Tuesday evening.
Samford has been led at the plate so far this season by
Jake Souders, hitting .417 (35-of-84) with five home runs and 17 RBI.
Trey Higgins leads the team in home runs with six so far this season, while
Luke Boykin leads the squad in RBI with 20.
Gus Gandy is hitting .363 (29-for-80) with four doubles, three home runs and nine RBI.
Cade Carr is hitting .300 (24-for-80) with three doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI.
Presbyterian comes into the weekend with a mark of 4-22 overall and 2-4 in Big South Conference play. The Blue Hose dropped a 9-4 game at The Citadel Wednesday evening.
Presbyterian has been led at the plate by Bo Moody, hitting .337 (28-for-83) with nine doubles and 10 RBI. Amman Dewberry is hitting .310 (31-for-100) with four home runs and a team-high 23 RBI.
