BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford softball team hits the road to face No. 4 ranked Alabama tomorrow night in Tuscaloosa. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. as the Bulldogs enter on a four-game skid while the Crimson Tide have a 23-0 record.
Samford and Alabama are meeting for the 30th time in program history. Samford is 2-27 all-time against the Crimson Tide. Samford fell 9-3 at Alabama last season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-4 weekend at the Jaguar Classic, picking up an 8-2 win over New Mexico. Samford is facing their 7th-ranked opponent of the season, going 0-6 so far this year. The Crimson Tide are coming off a sweep of Ole Miss to open SEC play.
Olivia Treece was the main arm used last week as she appeared in four games, with two strong complete game outings against West Georgia and New Mexico. Preseason Player of the Year, Olivia Shaw, leads the team with a .324 average, 24 hits, and an OBP of .420. Katie Campbell leads the SoCon with 8 homers and carries a team-high 1.025 OPS.
