GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT NORTH ALABAMA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team will travel to Florence, Ala., to take on the North Alabama Lions Tuesday at 4 p.m. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
 
Samford and North Alabama have played 19 previous times, with UNA holding a 12-7 series lead. The teams met earlier this season, on Feb. 24, with the Bulldogs earning a 6-5 win at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
 
Samford comes into Tuesday's game with a record of 24-21 overall and 9-6 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs dropped two-of-three games to Mercer over the weekend.
 
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher Michael Fredette on the mound Tuesday night. Fredette has a record of 0-2 and an ERA of 13.03 so far this season.
 
Samford has been led at the plate so far this season by Jake Souders, hitting .387 (67-of-173) with 11 home runs and 40 RBI. Luke Boykin leads the team in home runs with 14 and in RBI with 46. Cade Carr is hitting .337 (56-of-166) with seven doubles, 10 home runs and 37 RBI. Gus Gandy is hitting .323 (50-of-155) with 10 doubles, three home runs and 20 RBI. Boykin and Trey Higgins are both hitting .303 this season. Higgins has 10 home runs and 29 RBI.
 
North Alabama comes into Tuesday night's contest with a record of 24-22 overall and 15-9 in Atlantic Sun play. The Lions dropped two-of-three games to Bellarmine over the weekend.

North Alabama has listed right-handed pitcher Jordan Touhey as its starter on the mound Tuesday evening. Touhey has a record of 2-1 and an ERA of 7.20.
 
North Alabama has been led at the plate by Nash Rippen, hitting .327 (53-of-162) with 12 doubles, 16 home runs and 43 RBI. Wes Walker and Dylan Coleman share the team lead in RBI with 50 each.
