JASPER, Ala. – Samford rising senior
Grace Engel won the Third Alabama Women's State Match Play Championship, held Tuesday through Thursday at Musgrove Country Club.
In Tuesday's quarterfinal round, Engel defeated Kiersten Riggins by concession. Engel then earned the win over Kylee Lynn in 22 holes in Wednesday's semifinals to advance to Thursday's championship match.
On Thursday, Engel defeated Klare Jamison, 5 & 3 to win the tournament title. Engel won the first, second, fourth, fifth, 10
th, 14
th and 15
th holes, while Jamison won the third and eighth holes in the match.
