Samford To Host Jax State For Annual Shauna’s House Game Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will play host to Jacksonville State for the annual Shauna's House Game Thursday at Shauna Yelton Field.
Samford and JSU have met 21 times with Samford owning a 15-5-1 series lead. Last season, Samford earned a 1-0 win at Jacksonville State. Samford and JSU were co-members of the TAAC/A-Sun Conference from 1997 to 2002 and then of the Ohio Valley Conference from 2003 to 2007.

Samford enters Thursday evening's contest with a record of 2-0-2. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 0-0 draw at No. 2 Notre Dame before earning a 2-0 win over Belmont and a 1-0 win over Georgia State last Thursday. Samford tied South Alabama, 1-1 on Sunday.
So far this season, Martha Bishop, Sam De Luca, Hayven Laurendine and Alex Parr have a goal each. Brinley Murphy has two assists so far, while Langston Lilly, Addison Smith and Caroline Smith have one assist apiece. Goalkeeper Peyton Hull has a 0.25 goals against average in 360:00 of action.
Samford head coach Todd Yelton is in his 25th season in charge of the program. He has a career record of 343-154-75, and he is Samford's all-time winningest coach with a mark of 303-122-71 in his time with the Bulldogs.
Jacksonville State carries a mark of 0-1-1 into Thursday night's contest. The Gamecocks opened the season with a 1-1 draw against West Georgia and then dropped a 5-0 decision at Auburn.
Jacksonville State has been led so far this season by Rebecca Sierra-Burciaga with one goal, while Amelia Jacobs has one assist. JSU goalkeeper Ella Holmberg has posted a 3.41 goals against average in 158:33 of action.
