Birmingham, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team earned its second win of the 2026 season, taking down Jacksonville State 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-17,25-15) to close out the Samford Invitational on Sunday evening at the Pete Hanna Center.

With the win, Samford improves to 2-5 on the season, while Jacksonville State falls to 1-8.

Samford opened the match with a 25-23 win in set one, before Jacksonville State took the next set 25. The Bulldogs responded by taking the third set, 25-17. Samford sealed the deal in set four, 25-15.

Senior outside hitter Ally Cordes led the way for Samford, posting her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills to go along with 14 digs with a .024 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Brianna Hamilton also posted a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs, while recording a .286 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter Maggie Kalisz reached double digit kills with 11. Freshman middle blocker Hazel Slusher recorded a career high eleven blocks. Samford tied a team career record with 17 blocks.

For Jacksonville State, Sophia Schweikert led the way with a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Delaney Moon added 15 digs. The Gamecocks finished with a total of 56 digs.

The Bulldogs see action next weekend at the Alabama Showdown in Auburn. First serve is set for 3 p.m. in Neville Arena.
