Bulldogs Travel to Auburn for the Alabama Showdown

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team will travel to Auburn, Ala., to compete in the Alabama Showdown hosted by Auburn University on Thursday and Friday. The Bulldogs will take on South Alabama on Thursday at 3 p.m. (CT) and Auburn at 6 p.m. (CT) at Neville Arena.

Samford enters the weekend with a record of 2-5. Last weekend, the Bulldogs hosted the Samford Invitational at the Pete Hanna Center, where they fell to North Alabama in five sets and won against Jacksonville State in four sets.

Samford has been led so far this season by senior outside hitter Ally Cordes with 105 kills, while freshman outside hitter Maggie Kalisz is second on the team with 57 kills through the first seven matches of the season. Redshirt freshman setter Alison Ohlinger leads the team with 270 assists and 13 service aces.

This is the 26th meeting between Samford and South Alabama. South Alabama is currently leading the series 14-12. Samford and Auburn will be meeting for the ninth time, with Auburn leading the series 7-1.
