BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team earned its fourth win of the 2026 season, taking down ETSU in the SoCon opener 3-1 (25-17, 25-12, 26-24, 25-22) on Thursday evening at the Pete Hanna Center.

With the win, Samford improves to 4-7 on the season and 1-0 in SoCon action, while ETSU falls to 2-10 and 0-1 in SoCon action. Head Coach Keylor Chan gained his 170th victory which makes him the all time winningest coach in school history.

Samford opened the match with a 25-17 win in set one, before the Bulldogs took the next set 25-12 before losing the third set 26-24. The Bulldogs sealed the deal in set four 25-22 to get the win.

Freshman outside hitter Maggie Kalisz led the way for Samford, with 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .441 and also a career high seven blocks. Senior outside hitter Ally Cordes was second on the team with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .154. Redshirt Junior middle blocker Janie Stinchcomb had a perfect hitting percentage of 1.000 with seven kills to lead the Bulldogs and also lead the team with a career high ten blocks.

Freshman setter Alison Ohlinger posted a double-double with 45 assists, 12 digs and one service ace. Freshman middle blocker Hazel Slusher recorded five blocks. Sophomore Libero Brooklyn Drumwright had 15 digs and five service aces to lead the Bulldogs. Samford finished the match with a .336 hitting percentage on 122 attempts.

For ETSU, Karis Chatfield led the way with 13 kills and 15 digs, while Elizabeth Aylward added 12 kills on a .258 hitting percentage. The Buccaneers finished with a .148 hitting percentage on 149 attempts.

The Bulldogs continue conference play at home against ETSU on Friday Sept. 25. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
