NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Samford volleyball team fell to Middle Tennessee in its first match of the Belmont Invitational, 3-0 (13-25, 20-25, 15-25), Friday afternoon in the Curb Event Center.

The match opened with several points back and forth but ultimately the Bulldogs fell in the first set 25-13, then 25-20 in the second set. Samford lost the third set by a score of 25-15.

Senior outside hitter Ally Cordes led the Bulldogs with eight kills and a hitting percentage of .237. Freshman Maggie Kalisz followed with five kills and a hitting percentage of .050. Redshirt Junior Janie Stinchcomb would finish the match with four blocks. Samford would finish with a hitting percentage of .063 out of 95 attempts. They would also finish with a total of six blocks.

For Middle Tennessee, Michela Dlouh led with nine kills and had a hitting percentage of .500. Gabriell Clinkscale followed behind her with eight kills and a hitting percentage of .172. Middle Tennessee would finish as a team with a hitting percentage of .276. They would also finish with six blocks.

Samford will continue its season on Saturday September 5th, when the Bulldogs face Belmont at 6 p.m. at the Curb Event Center.
