BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team hosted the Auburn Tigers Sunday evening at Shauna Yelton Field, battling the Tigers to a 0-0 draw.

With the result, Samford is now 3-1-3 on the season. Auburn has a record of 4-0-3.

"That is about as physical of a college soccer game as you're going to see," Samford head coach Todd Yelton said. "It probably had a lot less to do with soccer and a lot more to do with grit, from them and from us."

For Samford in the game, Brinley Murphy led the way with three shots, including one shot on goal. Martha Bishop took two shots, with one coming on goal.

Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull saved five shots, without allowing a goal. The shutout was Hull's fourth clean sheet of the season.

For Auburn, Dylan Driver took five shots, with one coming on goal. Jordyn Crosby had four shots, two on goal. Auburn goalkeeper Ayana Yapo had four saves, without allowing a goal.

As a team, Samford took 10 shots, while Auburn took 22. Auburn had nine corner kicks, while Samford had four. Auburn had 16 fouls, to Samford's 12.

Samford will play host to cross-town rival UAB on Thursday, Sept. 10. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Shauna Yelton Field.
