Biography
2022-23 (Redshirt Junior): Played in eight contests, with six starts before suffering a season-ending injury … averaged 15.5 minutes per game while posting 2.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per contest … scored a season-high seven points Spring Hill College on Nov. 10.
2021-22 (Redshirt Sophomore): Started and played in 30 games … averaged 25.8 minutes per contest … shot 37 percent from the floor while averaging 6.1 points per game … converted on 49 three-point attempts, good enough for second-most on the squad … compiled a 73-percent free throw efficiency … grabbed 22 steals and dished out 25 assists … hauled in 3.4 boards per game … tallied a season-high 17 points against Maryville on Nov. 9 … distributed a season-high six assists against ETSU on Jan. 15.
Loyola-Chicago: Kaifes, a 6-4 redshirt sophomore guard, is transferring to Samford from Loyola-Chicago. The Shawnee, Kan., native, was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team in 2019 after averaging 5.7 points per game and shooting 46.5 percent from 3-point range. His 53 made 3-pointers were the most by a Loyola true freshman in almost a decade. He turned in a career-high 19 points versus UM-Kansas City while scoring 14 points versus Bradley in the Missouri Valley Conference semifinals.
High School: An elite shooter, Kaifes averaged 19.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a senior at Mill Valley High School. He was named first team All-State and first team All-Kansas Tournament Team as a junior and senior at MVHS.
