Biography
Talented “big” guard who is looking to bounce back from a season-ending injury . . . has a great knack for finishing over and around bigger defenders at the rim . . . will be counted on for leadership from the point guard position.
2011-12 (medical redshirt): Suffered an injury less than a week before the team’s first practice in October and was forced to miss the entire season.
Sophomore (2010–11): Earned significant playing time in 30 of the Bulldogs’ 31 games and started in four contests at the point guard position . . . averaged 7.6 points per game and 1.7 rebounds per outing . . . in 22.3 minutes per contest, he shot 41.2 percent from the field and handed out 45 assists . . . under his guidance in the backcourt, Samford finished the season ranked fifth in the Southern Conference in assist/turnover ratio (1.0) . . . scored a career-high 14 points against Western Carolina on Dec. 2, as he shot 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line . . . also tied a career-high with five rebounds . . . tallied 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field against Asbury on Dec. 18, as he finished with two rebounds and a pair of steals . . . made the first start of his Samford career on Dec. 4, against Appalachian State where he finished with seven points and three assists . . . finished with 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 31) . . . was also 4-of-5 from the free-throw line in the Bulldogs’ four-point victory . . . scored 13 points for a second straight game at Georgia State (Nov. 27) . . . in Samford’s thrilling overtime win, he finished 3-of-8 from the field and was also 7-of-9 from the free-throw line . . . helped lead the Bulldogs to a 58-50 SoCon victory at Georgia Southern on Feb. 5, as he scored 12 points, all in the second half, on 6-of-8 shooting from the field . . . against Georgia Southern, he spearheaded Samford’s offensive attack in the second half as all of his points came on slashing drives and acrobatic layups . . . he also added two assists and a pair of steals in 27 minutes of game action . . . earned his second varsity letter.
Freshman (2009–10): Earned playing time in 19 of 31 games as a true freshman . . . averaged 4.1 minutes per outing and finished the season five of12 from the field and four for five from the free-throw line . . . tied a career-high with 4 points against Tennessee Temple Jan. 8, finishing twp for three from the field . . . scored 4 points versus Spring Hill Dec. 12 and pulled down a career-high five rebounds in the 58-48 win . . . finished with 3 points, two rebounds and an assist versus Elon Dec. 3, earning nine minutes of playing time and knocking down his first 3-point basket of the season . . . scored the first points of his collegiate career Nov. 23 against McNeese State as he connected on a pair of free throws and finished with 2 points . . . came off the bench against Shorter College Dec. 19 and logged nine minutes of playing time . . . finished Samford’s 61-39 home victory with 2 points, two rebounds and an assist . . . earned his first varsity letter.
High School: Averaged 15 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals per game as a senior at Briarcrest Christian School . . . a four-year varsity starter under the tutelage of Head Coach John Harrington . . . concluded his prep career as the Saints’ all-time leader in assists with 325 . . . amassed 1,361 total points and averaged 12 points and three assists per game throughout high school . . . a three-time member of the All-Memphis Team as awarded by The Commercial Appeal . . . led BCS to 91 wins and a trio of Tennessee state tournament Final Fours . . . piloted the Saints to the 2008 state championship title . . . a three-time recipient of the school’s Best Defensive Player Award . . . selected to the West Tennessee All-Region Team three times and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Marshall County (Ky.)
