Rachel Harnack begins her first season as a member of the Samford coaching staff after a one year stint at Liberty University.

One of the all-time great outside hitters in Liberty volleyball history, Harnack ended her four-year run racking up some of the best numbers in school history. The native of Ortonville, Mich. ended her playing days as the school's third leading kills producer (1,515) while helping the squad to two Big South Championships and the ensuing trip to the NCAA tournament. Harnack had her best season in 2001 when she posted double figure kills in all but six of the team's 32 matches. In the last regular season match, she posted a 40-kill effort against Coastal Carolina becoming only the second player in Liberty history to post 40 or more kills in a match. She also garnered the Big South Tournament MVP honors after leading the Lady Flames to the school's third championship. She was named to the all-conference first-team twice and was named to the Virginia all-state team two times during her tenure from 1997-2001.

Harnack will assists in the day-to-day operations, work with the team's hitting, defense and all aspects of on-court coaching. In May 2002, Harnack received her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in English and Biblical Studies from Liberty.
