BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University volleyball team welcomes in six new student-athletes to this season's squad with each being introduced on SamfordSports.com over the duration of the team's fall camp.
 
Krista Boesing, a freshman from New Albany, Indiana will compete for Samford after having a successful high school career. Boesing led her team to consecutive Indiana Class A Regional Championships in 2013-14 and fueled her team to the Indiana State Class A Championship game in 2014. That same year Boesing was name to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Class A All-State First Team.
 
Samford Head Coach Derek Schroeder gives us an inside look at what type of player Boesing is and can be for the Bulldogs.
 
 
Where do you see Boesing making the biggest impact on the team?
"Boesing can make an impact this season as a weapon. She is physically gifted and in our system can make an impact by terminating the ball and with solid net play."
 
 
What are some of Boesing's strengths and what intangibles does she possess?
"Krista is an athlete but more than that she plays the game at a high level. She comes from a great open club background and from a group of strong coaches. As her confidence grows her game will explode."
 
 
What will fans notice about Boesing's play on the court?
"Fans will notice the ball exploding off her hand and how fast she is moving around the court. We like to play the game fast and aggressive and she will fall right into that. Krista is the epitome of a Samford volleyball player – very intelligent, fast and aggressive."
 
 
In your opinion what former student-athlete does Boesing's style of play reflect?
"Boesing will remind everyone of a young Michael Reesor. That's very high praise but the staff believes as she learns the game from a Samford volleyball standpoint she will get the confidence she needs to be an elite player."
