BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Senior pole vaulter Michael Seaman concluded his Samford career Friday at the NCAA Championships, placing 17th in the men's pole vault with a height of 16-10.75 (5.15m). With the finish, he earns honorable mention All America status. Jack Whitt of Oral Roberts University won the event with a height of 18-6.5 (5.65m).
This was his fourth career appearance at the NCAA Championships, three of which have come in the outdoor season. In the 2011 outdoor season, he earned second team All-America status with a 16th-place finish and improved on that in this past indoor season, where he placed sixth to earn first team honors. Since transferring to Samford following the 2009 season, Seaman has become one of the most prolific athletes in Bulldog history, winning four conference titles and setting school records in both the indoor (17-10.5, 5.44m) and outdoor (17-4.5, 5.30m) pole vault. The indoor record, set at the 2012 Indoor SoCon Championships, is also an all-time conference meet record.
