BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Samford University took home a pair of “Best of Awards” at the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators Convention in Dallas, Texas, this week. The Bulldogs earned Gold Awards in the Promotional/Schedule Poster and Student Promotion categories.
Samford Athletics' Director of Marketing and Licensing Don Scott accepted the awards at the annual convention.

A special thanks to our students for their passion and support of Samford athletics…the best is yet to come.”
The 2012 Samford men's and women's golf schedule poster was created by Scott and designed by Old Hat Creative of Norman, Oklahoma. Samford University Director of Photographic Services Caroline Summers shot all photographs for the poster.
Monday Madness won gold for Student Promotion. Madness, coordinated by the Samford Athletics Marketing office and Campus Dining was the basketball preview for the students when they returned from Thanksgiving break. Set in the school cafeteria during dinner of November 28, students were entertained by both basketball teams as a regulation goal was set up in the caf. After introduction of the teams and having the head coaches give remarks, players and students participated in skills competitions and finished the evening with a dunk contest.
“It is an honor to win these awards and be recognized for our efforts during the year, ” Scott said. “None of this could have been possible without the teamwork from our own office as well as Old Hat Creative, Caroline Summers, Chris Vizzina and Dr. Phil Kimrey.”
Samford was one of just 14 Division I athletics programs in the country to earn multiple 'Best of Awards' and one of six that received multiple Gold awards. Samford was also the only Southern Conference school to win a Gold.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 13 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. An association record of more than 950 awards entries was received for the 2011-12 year.
