BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford Athletic Department officially announced Monday its inaugural Sam. In The City campaign, which will feature Fan Days at five local restaurants and will include giveaways, prizes and special coupons. Samford coaches, players, cheerleaders and Spike will also be in attendance for photo opportunities.  
 
Starting Thursday, Aug. 7, at Moe's Southwest Grill in Vestavia Hills, the Samford Athletic Department will hold a tailgate from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The additional dates and venues are as follows:  Friday, Aug. 15 at Newk's Eatery in Cahaba Village, Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Full Moon Barbecue on Valley Avenue, Thursday, Aug. 28 at Cocina Superior at Brookwood Colonial Village and Thursday, Sept. 4 at Dreamland Barbecue in Southside.
 
The Sam. In The City events are great opportunities for families to come out and meet our coaches, take pictures with the cheerleaders and Spike, as well as to pick up free giveaways. Families are encouraged to come out to each event and enjoy the discounts offered at every restaurant, in addition to participating in giveaways and drawings.
