Sam. In The City Events To Start Back This Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford athletics department will once again hold a series of fan events named Sam. In the City at local restaurants to promote the upcoming men's and women's basketball seasons.

The events, which began this summer to kick off the fall sports seasons, will resume next week. The first event will take place Thursday, Nov. 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Mugshots Grill and Bar in Vestavia. Thursday events will follow on Nov. 13, at Full Moon Bar-B-Que on Highway 31 in Hoover and Nov. 20, at Nothing But Noodles in Cahaba Village.

The functions will continue with a series of Monday events from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Nov. 24 at Moe's Southwest Grill on Highway 31 in Vestavia, Dec. 1, at Newk's in Cahaba Village and Dec. 8, at Taziki's Mediterranean Café  in Mountain Brook.

"The turnout and feedback in August about Sam. In the City was great," Samford marketing coordinator Abby Turner said. "So we decided to try it for our winter sports and then are planning to do it again in the spring for baseball and softball.  We appreciate our sponsors allowing us to host the events with them!"
At each event, Samford coaches and players will be attendance. The Samford cheerleaders and the school's mascot, Spike, will also be at the events, handing out posters for each sport.
