BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford junior infielder Tyler Filliben has been named an All-Star for the Prospect League when the league released its Postseason All-Star Team on Saturday.
 
Filliben was named to the team as a third baseman, sharing the spot with fellow Southern Conference player Bradley Strong of Western Carolina.
 
Filliben, playing for the Hannibal Cavemen, batted .335 with seven doubles, six triples, three home runs and 27 RBI in 39 games this summer. Filliben had multiple hits in 20 games, and he drove in multiple runs in nine games.
 
For the summer, Filliben led his team in triples, and he ranked third on his team in batting and in base hits. Filliben also won the 2012 Prospect League All-Star Home Run Derby.
 
As a sophomore at Samford in 2012, Filliben batted .250, playing in 31 games, including 16 starts.
