BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford football team will report for the 2012 season on Sunday, Aug. 5, with the team's first practice scheduled for Monday, Aug. 6.
This season will mark the sixth season at Samford for head coach
Pat Sullivan and his staff. The Bulldogs posted a record of 6-5 overall and 4-4 in the Southern Conference in 2011.
The Bulldogs will report Sunday afternoon at the Cooney Family Field House, and the team will have its first team meal of the season later that evening in the Samford Cafeteria. Monday's first practice is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start.
Samford returns eight starters on offense and six starters on defense this season. The Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the Southern Conference by both the league's coaches and media. Seven Samford players were named to the preseason All-SoCon teams.
The team's first two-a-day workout will be held on Aug. 11, with practices scheduled for 9:10 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. The Bulldogs will scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 18, at 9:30 a.m.
Samford opens the 2012 season with a SoCon home game against The Furman Paladins. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start from Seibert Stadium, and it will be broadcast live on CSS.
