Football Moves Back Into National Polls

Senior wide receiver Chris Cephus.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—After one week out of the national rankings, the Samford football team moved back into the top 25 of the national Division I-FCS polls on Monday. The Bulldogs are ranked 23rd in the FCS Coaches poll and 24th in the Sports Network poll.

Samford defeated then-17th-ranked Chattanooga Saturday, 17-14, in overtime at Seibert Stadium. Chattanooga is the only other Southern Conference team ranked in this week's polls, as the Mocs are ranked 21st in the Coaches poll and 23rd in the Sports Network poll.

For the season, Samford has a record of 7-4 overall and 5-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs can win a share of the SoCon title if they can earn a victory in Saturday's regular-season finale against Elon.

Saturday's home game against Elon is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start from Seibert Stadium. The game can be heard locally on FM-99.5 The Vibe, or worldwide on the internet at www.995thevibe.com. The contest can also be viewed online via Samford Sports TV at www.samfordsports.com/showcase. Live stats will also be available at www.samfordsports.com.
