BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford senior running back and kick returner
Fabian Truss was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America team, released by the AFCA on Monday.
Truss was named to the team as an all-purpose performer. Truss has also been named All-American by the Sports Network, College Sports Madness and Beyond Sports Network.
During the 2013 season, Truss led the SoCon and ranked third in the nation in all-purpose yards per game at 183.8 yards per contest. He ranked second nationally in kickoff return average at 32.1 yards per return. Despite missing the final two games of the season with an injury, Truss rushed for 877 yards and eight touchdowns.
For his career, Truss holds the Samford record for all-purpose yards with 6,640 yards in his four seasons in a Samford uniform. Truss ranks third in school history in rushing with 3,088 career rushing yards.
In 2013, Truss and the Bulldogs earned the first Southern Conference title in the history of the football program. The team also reached the NCAA Division I-FCS Playoffs for the first time since 1992.
