COMPLETE RESULTS (PDF)

ATLANTA, Ga. –
Samford track wrapped up its last competition of the season before NCAA Regionals by sending a handful of athletes to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invite.  Fighting through scattered rainstorms, multiple Bulldogs improved their regional standings in hopes of earning a postseason bid.

SoCon Champion Chenelle Terry tied her own school record in the high jump, placing third in the event in 5-8.75 (1.75m).  This is her best mark of the 2013 season and puts her within the top 50 in the East Region.  Ashley Cope set a new personal best in the women's pole vault, placing fifth this weekend at 12-10.25 (3.92m) which currently puts her in the East Region top 40.

Lauren D'Alessio set a new personal best in the women's 1,500 meters, placing third in 4:30.96 which moves her to second all-time at Samford.  Layton Dorsett earned a fifth-place finish in the men's 1,500 meters (3:51.69) while also running the 800 meters (21st, 1:53.81) along with teammate Brandon Hazouri (3rd, 1:49.00).  Danielle Blanco in the women's 400-meter hurdles (12th, 1:01.56) and Bob Elliot II in the men's high jump (6-6.75, 2.00m) rounded out Samford's competitors.

East and West Regional fields will be announced early next week with qualifying athletes heading to either Greensboro, N.C. (East) or Austin, Texas (West) for their respective regional meet, both of which begin on Thursday, May 23.
