BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford University football team was ranked in the top 20 of the final Division I-FCS polls by both the coaches and the Sports Network, with both polls being released on Monday.
Samford was ranked 18
th in the final coaches polls of the season. In the poll, Samford was the highest ranked Southern Conference team, with Furman coming in at 21
st, and Chattanooga placing 25
th.
In the Sports Network poll, the Bulldogs finished the season as the 19
th ranked team in the nation. The other SoCon teams in the Sports Network poll are Furman at 22
nd and Chattanooga at 23
rd.
During the 2013 season, Samford won a share of its first Southern Conference football title since joining the league in 2008. The team, which finished at 8-5 overall and 6-2 in SoCon play, also earned the program's first NCAA Division I-FCS Playoff berth since 1992.
