BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford football team practiced for about 90 minutes in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
 
The practice was the final full workout of the week as Samford prepares for Saturday's homecoming game against Concordia. Samford assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Bill D'Ottavio said he thought the team has had a good week of preparation.
 
"I thought we had a really good week of practice," D'Ottavio said. "Our kids came out with a good attitude and worked hard. This group has been practicing well. They're getting after it and I feel like we've made some strides."
 
Saturday's game will mark the first ever meeting between Samford and Concordia. Samford enters the game with a record of 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Southern Conference. The Bulldogs are coming off a 45-0 win at Furman on Saturday.
 
Concordia is currently 1-7 on the season. The Hornets are coming off a 17-12 loss at Warner University on Saturday. D'Ottavio talked about what he has seen from Concordia on film.
 
"You watch them from earlier in the year until now and they've really improved," D'Ottavio said. "They've gotten better each week and you can see them kind of getting a handle on the things they're trying to do. They really executed well last Saturday. They have some good football players. They're going to come in here excited to play and we have to be ready."
