BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford football team will return home for the first time in nearly a month, when the Bulldogs host The Citadel in a Southern Conference contest today at 2 p.m. (CDT) at Seibert Stadium.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Fans can also listen to the game locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at
www.samford.edu/wvsu. Live stats will also be available at
www.samfordsports.com.
Samford enters the game with a record of 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 49-13 win at VMI last weekend.
The Citadel is currently 3-2 overall and 2-0 in league games. The Citadel is coming off a 39-12 win over Wofford last week.
Samford and The Citadel will be meeting for the ninth time, with the series tied at 4-4. Last season, Samford defeated The Citadel by a score of 20-17 in a game played at The Citadel's Johnson Hagood Stadium.
Denzel Williams scored a touchdown with just 17 seconds left to give Samford the come-from-behind road victory.
In the seven SoCon meetings between Samford and The Citadel since Samford joined the league in 2008, four of those games have been decided by five points or less. The last two meetings have been especially close contests, with Samford winning by three (20-17) in 2014, and The Citadel taking a two-point (28-26) win in 2013.
