JOHNSON CITY, Tennessee – A small contingent from the Samford University track and field team made its way up to the ETSU Buccaneer Indoor Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 7, which was held at the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.
"We were looking to get a few of the guys a little work before our next home meet." Head coach
Rod Tiffin explained. "I think we did that and hopefully it will pay off next weekend and the weekend after that at our conference championship."
Tray Oates turned in another solid outing in the pole vault competition as he took first place in the event with a 5.00m mark. Fellow teammate
Austin Eckenroth turned in a fifth place finish with a height of 4.90m.
Junior
Brandon Hazouri was the only track competitor for the Bulldogs and he posted a time of 1:52.18 to place first amongst collegiate competitors and second overall.
In the long jump competition sophomore
Javion Lee stretched for a leap of 7.00m and a seventh place finish in the event.
The full team returns to action next weekend on Feb. 13-14 for its home meet at the Birmingham Crossplex.
