ATHENS, Ga. – The Samford University track and field teams took part in the Georgia Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia on Saturday, May 9, at the Spec Towns Track.
The Bulldogs broke two school records on the day with
Claire Goodson breaking the first with a 4.12m vault in pole vault to take first place in the event.
Junior
Brandon Hazouri notched Samford's second school-record of the day with a time of 1:48.05 in the men's 800 meters while also taking a first place finish in the event.
Nathan Hendershot took fifth place with a time of 1:50.37 and
Adam Jones rounded out the event with an 11
th place finish time of 1:52.69.
Samford earned two fourth place finishes in the men's and women's hammer throw thanks to
Kristin Brining's personal best throw of 54.81m and
Sidney Jordan's personal best toss of 59.52m.
Senior
Marie Demedicis kept the momentum rolling for Samford in the women's 800 meters with a third place time of 2:10.11. Freshman
Sarah Sanford posted another Top 10 finish for the Bulldogs with her 13.954 performance in the women's 100m hurdles and also ran a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 55.10. The time in the 400 meters is the second fastest time in Samford history right behind Latoya Cunningham's school-record 54.92 set in 2002.
Brian Smith notched a new personal best in the men's shot put with a heave of 15.38m and a 10
th place finish in the event.
