EUGENE, Ore. – Keyth Fightmaster of the Samford University track and field team wrapped up competition for the Bulldogs at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, June 12, at Hayward Field.

The freshman started off in the high jump competition by clearing the 2.08m mark in his first attempt. He was one of 12 different student-athletes to pass the mark on their first try.

Fightmaster battled to clear the second height in the competition as it took him all three tries to advance past the 2.12m (6' 11.5") mark.

The Calhoun, Georgia native continued to fight at the 2.16m (7' 01") but clipped the bar on all three of his attempts to exit the competition with an 19th place finish.
 
Samford sent three student-athletes to the NCAA Championships this season which is the most in the program's history and while the results might not be what they expected the future is bright for those student-athletes along the program.

"The meet didn't really go as we drew it up but I am extremely happy with the season that these young men had this year." Samford head coach Rod Tiffin said. "Adding three honorable mention All-Americans to the Samford program is very special."

Fightmaster along with Tray Oates are just merely freshmen within the program while junior Brandon Hazouri still has one more year left as a Samford Bulldog.

"These guys are all young and to get their feet wet at the national level at their age will only help when they get back here to compete next year." Tiffin continued. "Hopefully we will add a few more to them and continue to grow the Samford University tradition."

Samford has now added three more honorable metions to its total of four in the program's history. Adams Jones achieved honorable mention recognition after his performance in the men's 1,500 meters in 2014.
